Following a contrat award in Fall 2010, GKM team has recently performed supervision of the drilling and excavation works for instrument installations in recesses and cables routing in trenches of an earth fill dam in Northem Manitoba, Canada.

The scope work consisted in supplying and installing hydraulic, fiber optic and vibrating wire piezometers for pore pressure measurements in dam foundation.

Three (3) kilometer of fiber sensing was also embedded at two specific elevations  for seepage detection and strain measurements.

Once these instruments installed, general contractor placed the remaining impervious clay, rockfill and granular materials to build the dam up to its finished height.

GKM has been proud to collaborate to the success of one of Canada’s biggest infrastructure project today.
